Tomorrow is my son’s last day of preschool. He starts Kindergarten at the end of August. As a gift for one of his teachers, he requested a drawing of one of his beetles, a five-horned rhinoceros beetle from Malaysia, Eupatorus gracilicornis. This is a gift for the head of his school. The few times at school when he got in enough trouble to be sent to her office (the equivalent of being sent to the principal’s office), he said, “we had a lot of fun together.” Apparently, she had a large and interesting beetle framed in a box in her office, and he enjoyed going there and seeing it and her other curiosities.
