Burma Road flowers

Many lovely wildflowers are blooming on Mt. Diablo during our short, wet spring. I also found a few other creatures on this brief expedition.

Fiddleneck (Amsinckia) on Burma Road
Raphanus sativus
Ithuriel’s spear (Triteleia laxa)
Blue eyed grass (Sisyrichium vellum)
Snakefly, genus Agulla, on mustard.
California poppy
Ladybug in the tall grass.
California poppy.
Lupine.
Should it be “FIRE ANT ROAD”?
Our native California fire ant, Solenopsis xyloni.
Perfectly camouflaged! Sceloporus occidentalis.
Shed lizard skin, possibly Elgaria.
Not something you want to find on fire-prone Diablo in any season!
